Ever Beautiful by SharkBox Ever Beautiful by SharkBox
OBVIOUSLY, not the most skilled person in the world [I'm seventeen. :T] but eh, it was good practice, and perhaps this time I have a fair chance at a contest. I decided not to Use the templates from the asset pack, as this seems to be what most people have done. I thought this contest was open to concept, and as I have never read the books, I created a random design from within my brain. it's taken me a total of 15 hours to complete, mainly because it was very experimental [my coloring SUCKS] and I put very very careful work into it. I took ONE BREAK doing this. ONE. ugh. It turned out alright I suppose, I hope it's at least semi-finalist worthy. Enjoy Lena. Light version.

The dress is supposed to be white really, so I used cream to shade as apposed to my usual blue because I wanted it to look brighter, happier. when it comes to coloring, I understand the power and enforcement of darks, but I wanted this to be light, however it might be a bit too faint.. :T not sure. Her one arm is a bit stressed for the sake of the exaggerated pose. I didn't paint her feet because rather than a full dynamic person, I wanted her to fade into the light she has become. The dress not being "complete" for lack of a better word is because I had "POSTER" stuck in my head all day, I kept in mind this could be a poster, dvd cover, book illustration, banner, or something [even if my style is really different]. Just pointing out the things I kept in mind while painting this. Those vapors of magic were just for effect, I can remove them.

Everyone has a dark side, but that doesn't mean that dark isn't overcome, Lena. c:

kjnsdkjnvkjf I have been sitting here since last night trying to think of how to respond to these comments of your Suni. No one ever comments like this. omg. I'm really glad you liked this, a lot of people seemed to, but I didn't make it into the finalists of the contest [of course :T] the only way to make it in deviantart contests is to submit something Daily Deviation worthy, which I should have known.

Haha sorry! :XD: This is what happens when I finally make time to look and do a proper review of someones deviations. ^^;
Don't be too harsh on yourself, I usually avoid contests if I don't want to be disappointed for not being picked. :shrug: But you are welcome for commenting.

I went and saw your piece, it does not suck. Honestly, I am really bad with colors, and I know it, yours is painted, I can't paint anything, mine's so simple yet it took me 15 HOURS to do. And I do feel low, I'm 17 years old and my art shows it :I and deviantart could care less about my work. Sorry I'm ranting to you with all my problems but financially I'm barely making it, and I thought I had a chance at at least a 3rd place in light. But looking at everyone else who's 20+ I doubt I'll even be a runner up. ;c

No it's fine. :) and if I say I worked on mine for a month I should cry... Lol but don't stress over it. I really think yours looks really good and I'm 22 and mine looks like a third grader puked on it. I'm not a painter, I'm a sketch/charcoal girl I was just trying something different and out of place.

I could understand you working on it for a month, it's paint. I could never grasp painting anything, I'm really bad with colors. I am a little stressed but trying not to be. I'm a gamer girl so twiddling my thumbs around a controller helps a bit. shh. You did really good, it does not look like a 3rd grader puked on it. :I I think we're all just critical on our own art because we were the ones staring at it for hours while we created it, and we see all the flaws in it. You did well. again thank you for commenting, it's a pretty rare thing around my gallery unless I do a super popular fanart of a my little pony or some crap. :l

I'm a gamer lol, and yeah I'm my harshest critic even with my book series. I try my best to comment especially when I like something. I agree ponies seem to rule the world most days.
